TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)- Volunteers helped keep Topeka and Shawnee County beautiful Saturday.

KAB organizers and SilverbacKS hosted the third annual "Get Down Get Dirty" event as a community call to action to clean up the Topeka and Shawnee County area in conjunction with celebrating Earth Day.

Volunteers wore shirts that read "Stop Trashing Our Town." They first met in the Expocentre parking lot before beginning the cleanup along Shunga Trail from 9:30 Saturday morning until noon.

Volunteers were asked to bring work gloves and be prepared for getting wet. Volunteers had a BBQ in Gage park at noon after the cleanup.
