TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- Sportswriter and Commentator Frank Deford was honored by University of Kansas today for his contributions to journalism.
Deford received the school's William Allen White Foundation National Citation. Over the years, he's worked for Sports Illustrated and National Public Radio.
He's also written 18 books. Deford is the first sports journalist to receive this award. Past recipients include Walter Cronkite, Bob Woodward and Candy Crowley.
