United Way Encourages Families To Sign Up For Christmas Bureau

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Families struggling financially can get a little help with their Christmas gifts thanks to the United Way of Greater Topeka.

Their Christmas Bureau connects eligible families to sponsors who help with holiday needs.

Registration is already open.

You can still register at Antioch Family Life Center from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. thru Saturday, November 9th, or at Let's Help from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. thru Friday, or 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday.

Officials say the warmer temps may not be getting people in the Christmas mood yet to sign up for help, but still encourage them to sign up.

"Right now we're about 900 families," said Shavonne "Weezy" Holmes with the United Way Christmas Bureau. "That's kind of low at this point in time. We want to make sure we help everybody that needs help at Christmas time."

If you can help adopt a family, fill out the form on the United Way website. The link is posted below.

Last year, the Christmas bureau helped 2,800 families with gifts and a meal.
