JUNCTION CITY, Kan (WIBW) – Geary County USD 475 Superintendent, Ron Walker announced he will be retiring at the end of the current school year. Board President Dr. Ferrell Miller and Vice President Kimberly Milleson were in attendance during the announcement.
Walker has served 10 years and felt it was time to retire while things were still moving in the right direction. Enrollment in the Junction City-based district has risen during the past decade as the 1st Infantry Division returned to Fort Riley from Germany.
Superintendent Ron Walker started his career as the Director of Human Resource Services in 2003 and became Superintendent in 2004. Walker has been an advocate for rigorous student academic performance, appropriate funding for schools and the Kansas College and Career Standards and has worked tirelessly to secure funding to upgrade schools on and off Post.
The USD 475 Board will officially consider his resignation at the February 3rd Board meeting and then work through the search process with Kansas Association of School Boards.
