Two Killed In Leavenworth Shooting

LEAVENWORTH, KS (KCTV) - Leavenworth police were busy Friday night investigating a shooting that killed two men.

At about 6 p.m., officers responded to a reported shooting at a barbershop near the intersection of Broadway and Metropolitan in Leavenworth, KS. Upon arrival, police didn't locate any victims, but witnesses did provide a description of a car that was involved in the incident.

At about 6:15 p.m., officers responded to a reported car crash involving the suspect's vehicle at 7th and Spruce, near Union Park, south of downtown Leavenworth.

According to Leavenworth Police Chief Pat Kitchens, three men were found inside the car. Police believe that two of the men had been shot - one was killed and the other was transported from the scene by air ambulance. The man taken by air ambulance later died of his injuries. The third man was questioned at the scene.

The two men that died were brothers, according to Kitchens. The man found dead inside the car was identified as Derrick Jones, age 25, and his older brother, 28-year-old Marshall Jones, died at the hospital.

At this time, it appears the men found in the car were the only ones injured in the shooting, but police still have a lot more to learn from witnesses at the barbershop and the surviving person in the car.
