Rain heavy at times will move across northeast Kansas this afternoon and tonight that could lead to flooding. Severe storms are also possible through this evening with 60 mph wind gusts and hail up to the size of quarters.
TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- Two southeast Kansas high schools are among 286 U.s. schools named 2013 National Blue Ribbon Schools.
Chapman High School and West Franklin High School were awarded this prestigious education award for helping their students achieve at high levels and for showing significant improvement in its students level of achievement.
Education Secretary Arne Duncan said, excellence in education matters and we should honor the schools that are leading the way to prepare students for success in college and careers.
USD 473 Chapman was recognized as being an Exemplary Performing School and USD 287 West Franklin was recognized in the Exemplary Improving Schools Category.
The schools will be honored at an awards ceremony November 18th and 19th in Washington, D.C.
