Two From Emporia Die In Texas Rollover

BALLINGER, Tex Two Emporians are dead and one seriously injured after a rollover crash in Texas Friday.

The Texas Department of Public Safety says an SUV driven by 46-year old Carlos Armando Ventura of Garden City, KS, was northbound on U.S. Highway 83 about a mile south of Ballinger, Texas, when a deer ran onto the roadway around 10 pm Friday.. The vehicle swerved off the road to the east side. Ventura lost control and the vehicle rolled.

42-year old Lidia Morales-Medrano of Emporia was pronounced dead at the scene. Fredy Urgell Jr. 13, also died at the scene. 20-year old Heidi Peneda of Emporia was taken to a local hospital in serious condition, and 41-year old Maria Morales-Medrano of Garden City was transported in stable condition.

Ventura, along with an 11-year old boy, were treated at the scene and released. They were the only passengers in the vehicle wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
