TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- Gov. Sam Brownback has ordered flags to be lowered to half-staff on Friday to honor Kansas law enforcement officers.
The 19th annual Kansas Law Enforcement Memorial candlelight vigil was held Thursday night at the Law Enforcement Memorial on statehouse grounds.
The 32nd Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony, also on the statehouse grounds was held at noon.
Two names were added to the monument this year.
Fort Scott police officer Samuel McLemore was shot and killed in the line of duty in 1892.
Rosedale Police Dept. James Karr was killed by a fleeing suspect in 1916.
