Two Dead After Plane Crashes At KC Downtown Airport

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV)-- Two people have died after a single-engine plane crashed just hours ago at the Charles B.Wheeler Downtown Airport.

According to KCTV in Kansas City, the plane crash happened around 3 p.m. Shortly after taking off near the levy just south from the runway.

Fire spokesman James Garrett said the two people killed were the only two people on the plane. No other injuries were reported.

Garrett said the cause of the crash is under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board.

No other details were immediately available.
