Two Charged With Murder Now In Jackson County Custody

JACKSON COUNTY, Kan. (WIBW)__Deputies with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office transported Lloyd Wabaunsee and Desiree Shopteese back to Kansas from the Polk County Jail in Des Moines, Iowa Sunday.

Both subjects waived extradition last week to Kansas following the issuance of warrants in January for second degree murder in the killing of Kevin Stanley at 206 James Street in Mayetta, Kansas in January, 2013.

On January 17, 2013 both homicide suspects were apprehended at approximately 10:00 p.m. in Urbandale, Iowa. Both subjects were also in the accompany of Rachel Dawn Hudson of Denison, Kansas and Aaron Vance Lofton of Topeka. Subjects were found inside a 2004 Chevy Impala at the Hy-Vee parking lot at 8701 Douglas Ave. Wabaunsee and Shopteese were found wrapped in blankets in the trunk of the vehicle. All subjects were apprehended without incident.

Desiree Shopteese is being held on a Jackson County District Court Warrant for 2nd Degree Murder with a bond of $150,000.00. Lloyd Wabaunsee is being held on a Jackson County District Court Warrant for 2nd Degree Murder with a bond set at $500,000.00.
