Two Arrested In Riley County Murder Case

At approximately 10:30 PM on September 11, 2013 as a result of the ongoing investigation into the death of John Burroughs, 68, of Manhattan, Kansas, the Riley County Police Department Investigations Division made two arrests. These arrests, in connection with this September 8th homicide, were made at the Riley County Police Department and both subjects are being held at the Riley County Jail in lieu of $1,000,000.00 bond.

Christina Love, 49, of Manhattan, Kansas and James McKenith, 33, of Manhattan, Kansas were each arrested for murder in the 1st degree.

The investigation into this case is ongoing.

RCPD would like to thank the Kansas City Kansas Police Department, Junction City Police Department, and the Kansas Bureau of Investigations for their cooperation and assistance.

On Sunday, September 8, 2013 at approximately 2:30 PM, Officers with the Riley County Police Department were dispatched to the residence of John Burroughs, located at 2500 Farm Bureau Road Lot #277; to conduct a welfare check. At the residence, officers discovered the deceased body of John Burroughs. Due to evidence at the scene this death has been ruled a homicide. The investigation of this incident is ongoing.
