TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Two men are behind bars accused of stealing liquor and beer signs from a downtown bar. Officers caught up with them when they were reported as victims themselves.
Topeka Police say burglars broke out a window at The Office Lounge, near 8th and Jackson, sometime between Sunday night and Monday morning. They took about a $1,000 worth of alcohol, plus two neon signs valued at a total of $2,200. The damage to the window added up to another $800.
Monday afternoon, police responded to a possible burglary at a home where 25-year-old Luke Domme lived. Officers spotted drug evidence in plain sight and obtained a warrant. A search turned up the items stolen from The Office.
Domme and 32-year-old John Appelhans were arrested for felony burglary and theft from a building.
