Two Area High Schools Kicked Off Homecoming Festivities

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- A fall tradition returned to Washburn Rural High School this afternoon.

The Junior Blues Marching band sounded the beat for the school's first homecoming parade in at least 25 years!!

Students, staff and community members lined the route from the high school to the middle school and back.

Sports teams, cheerleaders, the dance team and other groups fired up the school spirit. Decorating floats for the occasion.

The Junior Blues face Shawnee Heights in tonight's homecoming game.

It's also homecoming at Topeka High School. The color guard led the way down tenth street for the trojans parade this afternoon.

People lined the streets around the school to cheer the black and gold. The football team is trying to remain undefeated tonight, taking on the Seaman Vikings at Hummer park.
