Rain heavy at times will move across northeast Kansas this afternoon and tonight that could lead to flooding. Severe storms are also possible through this evening with 60 mph wind gusts and hail up to the size of quarters.
TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A trial is set for the man accused of killing a Topeka man in October.
Shawnee County District Court Judge Cheryl Kingfisher bound over Jesus-Daniel Valadez-Soto, 22, Monday during a preliminary hearing.
Valadez-Soto is charged with first degree murder in the killing of 75-year-old Hugo Jimenez Sr. outside the bus business he owned at Southeast 2nd and Quincy.
CJ Online reports that during Mondays hearing, a KBI firearms examiner testified they found the gun they believe Valadez-Soto used in a neighbor's freezer.
The Shawnee County coroner also testified that he believes the gun was fired about 12 inches from Jimenez's head.
A trial is scheduled to begin January 22.
