TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - The trial for a man accused of murdering his mother has been postponed for more than six months.
During a hearing Wednesday, Jason Hachmeister waived his right to a speedy trial.
His trial, which was set for December 3, is now slated to begin May 13 2013.
Hachmeister is charged with premeditated first degree murder in the death of his mother Sheila on September 10, 2011at the home they shared.
Hachmeister pleaded not guilty to the charges at his preliminary hearing in August.
