The community of Harveyville gathered at Mission Valley High School Wednesday to celebrate the life of Richard Slade.
Slade died of injuries suffered after his home collapsed on him during the tornado that hit the town of Harveyville last week.
Slade was a Kansas Turnpike Authority employee and volunteer firefighter.
A memorial fund is set up for his grandchildren's education.
Donations can be sent to Carey Funeral Home in Burlingame, Kansas.
