Topeka (WIBW) - Efforts to bring Google's ultra high-speed internet access to the Capital City continue.
The Greater Topeka Chamber of Commerce recognized Ryan Gigous at a news conference Wednesday for his idea to change the city's name to "Google" earlier this year.
Think Big Topeka members are waiting to hear if the city has been selected for Google's high speed internet project. The company has said they'll make an announcement by the end of the year.
Their efforts also will get some national attention. Crews and cameras from the History Channel will be at Think Big Topeka's Google celebration in downtown Topeka on November 30th. The cable network is following Think Big Topeka and its work as part of their "How States Get Their Shapes" series.
