TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-It's Christmas and a lot of businesses are closed, however, many places are open today, such as restaurants and local gas stations on Wanamaker Road in Topeka, Kansas. These places are surprisingly packed with people for the holiday and workers are still happy to help their customers.

"It's really not too bad, you get to deal with a lot of friendly customers and your regulars come in just to see you and make you happy. So, it's not really bad at all," said Luis Gonzalez, Sales Clerk at Kelly's Gas Station.

"It's real busy in here. We're usually real busy. If you work in a restaurant, you know that you'll be working on holidays. I'm quite surprised we have so many people in here though. I thought that most people would be at home, but they love Denny's so much so I'm happy to be here and serve them. It's good," said Christopher Hancock, Denny's Manager.

While workers are eager to help customers, customers are happy to have a restaurant that's still open.

"Well, we were hungry for one thing and we just decided not to cook today. Our family came on Sunday. We have the 'Grand Slam' today so we're hungry!" said Karen Sheppard, Denny's customer.

Families were able to eat a delicious feast at Denny's for Christmas while others were still able to get needed items at local gas stations.
