A first of it

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- A first of it's kind event at the Fairlawn Plaza Mall encouraged dozens to let go of their lengthy locks for a good cause.

The Race Against Breast Cancer held a special event called "Make The Cut," where people donated their pony tails for breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy.

The person who donated the longest length of hair will be awarded the Lisa's Legacy Trophy in honor of 13's Lisa Chapman who lost her battle to breast cancer this past October.

The American Cancer Society donates the hair, giving many women battling cancer a bit of positivity.
