TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- The Topeka Zoo has three new residents as of Sunday.

Jingga the Sumatran Tiger gave birth to the three cubs starting around noon Sunday, the family is tucked away in a den box and observations are being made through video from a camera installed in the room.

Zoo Director Brendan Wiley said that it is crucial to see the cubs nursing within the first twenty four hours.

A facebook post from the Topeka zoo says that all cubs have been nursing since Sunday evening.

For the next two weeks, access to the tigers will be extremely limited while Jingga gets to know her cubs.

The cubs are not expected to be on display for about ninety days.
