Topeka, KS (WIBW)_ The Topeka Zoo is joining with other zoos across the country and conservation groups around the world to celebrate World Oceans Day.
The celebration started at 9 Sunday morning and ended at 3 p.m.
Zoo organizers supplied a free seafood sample served fresh.
Visitors learned what they can do to keep oceans healthy. Children made arts and crafts and looked at marine, coral, and sea turtle exhibits.
Organizers say even though Topekans may feel landlocked in Kansas, they can still protect the world's oceans.
Visitors learned how Kansas watersheds affect oceans, seafood watch sustainable seafood options and participated in a zoo wide scavenger hunt.
