TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- One person has died following a two car accident Tuesday afternoon.

Crews were called just before 5 p.m. along 75 Highway north of Topeka at 62nd St.

Authorities on scene say a red minivan, driven by Shelby Powell, was traveling north on Highway 75 when she hit a blue Buick, driven by Helen Oelke, that was trying to cross the highway along 62nd.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says 73-year-old Oelke failed to stop at a stop sign when she was hit on the drivers side. Oelke was unresponsive when crews arrived and was taken to Stormont-Vail where she was pronounced dead.

Powell received minor injuries. Both were wearing their seat belts.
