TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Topeka travelers flying on United Airlines out of Kansas City may be able to change those tickets for air service to the capital city instead.
The Metropolitan Topeka Airport Authority made the announcement Tuesday.
Last week, United announced they'd offer non-stop service between Topeka and Chicago O'Hare International Airport.
Now, travelers will have the opportunity to re-book those tickets to and from Topeka, at no charge.
If you purchased your ticket on or before September 9, you can re-book if you keep the original travel dates and class of service.
But before the changes can go into effect, officials are still trying to put the finishing touches on the airport to allow those flights.
"We have to meet with TSA, and work out scheduling, identify office space in the terminal building for the TSA, and of course we still need to work with the airlines to identify the ticket counters that they'll occupy and the back room space that they'll need to have," said MTAA President and Director of Airports Eric Johnson.
United begins the jet service between Topeka and Chicago O'Hare International Airport on January 7.
