TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)- A local student is fundraising money for S.A.D.D.
Miranda Deeds-Rookstool is a senior at Highland Park High School and she is the president of the student committee, Students Against Destructive Decisions.
She is reaching out to several local businesses to raise $2,500 in order for her to go to Orlando for a conference that focuses on prevention education.
She is apart of this organization because it has affected her personally.
"My grandmother was affected by a drunk driver and he was 17 and nothing happened to him. He basically just got a slap on the wrist. And later on, a couple years later, she passed away because of the injuries she had from the accident so its affected my family," said Miranda Deeds-Rookstool.
To donate money, send it via mail to Miranda Deeds-Rookstool c/o S.A.D.D National Office, 225 Main St, Marlborough, MA 01752.
All donations need to be received by early May.
