Topeka School Combats Tobacco Use

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A Topeka school showed its stance against tobacco use.

Two dozen students at Christ the King, SW 25th and Wanamaker, formed the shape of the heart to show attendees at a Monday assembly that tobacco affects the heart and lungs the most.

They are among local students who, throughout the week, will create "living billboards" to mark the 37th American Cancer Society Great American Smokeout.

The students will use math and health skills to figure out how tobacco statistics translate into their own lives. They then use visual representations to illustrate what they've learned.

The Great American Smokeout is Thursday, November 15th.
