Third Suspect Pleads Guilty In Topeka Woman's Death

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) _ A third suspect has pleaded guilty to a 2012 murder of a Topeka woman.

20 year old year old Gabino Alcala pleaded guilty to intentional second degree murder Tuesday morning to Shawnee County District Court Judge Evelyn Wilson. Gabino's charge of conspiracy to commit murder was dropped.

Manuel Alcala pleaded guilty Monday in the death of Ashley Alcala, who was killed at her home last year. He was charged with premeditated first-degree murder in the shooting death.

Alcala's mother, Manuela Alcala, also entered guilty pleas Monday to four related felonies in the case, including obstruction of prosecution and interference with law enforcement.

Both mother and son were scheduled to stand trial Monday in the death. Sentencing is scheduled for all three Alcala's Oct. 24.

A fourth defendant in the case, Benjamin Anaya has a hearing date December second.
