TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- A Topeka man is headed to jail for a 2011 New Year's Eve shooting at a hotel that injured a 6 year-old.
Court records show Peter Blancas was sentenced last week to 14 months in state custody. He was ordered to report Monday to the Shawnee County Jail.
In August, Blancas pleaded guilty to aggravated child endangerment. Police had said Blancas was among four adults and nine children in a room at the North Topeka Holiday Inn Express December 31st, 2011.
At the time, authorities said the shooting itself was an accident, but Blancas was prohibited from having firearms and knowingly brought a loaded weapon into a place with children.
