TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)__ A man sentenced to life in prison for murdering a Seaman High School graduate was granted a three month freeze in the case.

Dustin Leftwich will appear in court next on July 17th.

He was sentenced last February to life in prison without the possibility of parole after pleading guilty to capital murder and six other counts in the May 2012 murder of Brenna Morgart.

Prosecutors say Leftwich hit Morgart with his car while she was jogging, put her in his trunk and dumped her body in a field three miles way.

Leftwich filed a motion in February to take back his plea, saying he was forced into making it.
