TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)__Topeka's Habitat for Humanity is celebrating 2013 World Habitat Day.
A special ceremony marked the occasion today with an event inside what will be the organization's seventy-seventh Topeka home when it's finished in 2014.
Habitat volunteers and a current homeowner shared stories of involvement and their love for the nonprofit. Members say the group is committed to building safe and decent affordable housing while fostering community.
Topeka Mayor Larry Wolgast was also in attendance today. He praised the city's involvement and thanked the local Habitat for Humanity branch for its efforts in creating safer neighborhoods around Topeka.
