Topeka Firefighter Pleads Guilty To Misdemeanor Domestic Charges

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A Topeka firefighter charged with four felony counts may avoid jail time under a plea deal with prosecutors.

Shawnee County District Court records show Claude Clark was given a 12 month suspended jail sentence for his guilty plea Monday, March 17, to three misdemeanor charges. A count of aggravated battery was reduced to endangerment, while two counts of aggravated assault were amended to domestic battery.

A count of aggravated intimidation of a witness or victim was dismissed.

Court documents indicate Clark assaulted a woman with a gun and a baseball bat in February 2012 then tried to stop her from filing a report.

Clark will serve a year of supervised probation.

Topeka officials had said that he remained a firefighter with the city while the case progressed.
