Woman Badly Hurt, Suspect Faces Attempted Murder Charge

TOPEKA, Kan (WIBW)-- A domestic disturbance in west Topeka escalated into attempted murder, according to the Topeka Police Dept.

Twenty-six year-old Edmund Alexander Hamlin was arrested and taken to Shawnee Co. Jail. He's been charged with 2nd Degree Attempted Murder and is due to appear in court on Thursday. No bond was set.

Authorities said someone called them about the incident at a home in the 600 block of SW Warren Ave. Wednesday morning, adding that the victim suffered serious physical injuries.

When they got there, officers found the woman badly hurt. She was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Police have not released an update on her condition.
