TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-Dozens of business professionals were all under one roof in Topeka Tuesday and 2 business owners received very special attention.
There were 34 more exhibitors at this event than last year and the Westside Stamp and Award owners said what they received at the event is something they never expected.
"Give them a round of applause," said motivational speaker, Aaron Davis, as the audience surprised the Westside Stamp and Award owners David and Barbara Butts with a standing ovation Tuesday.
"That was quite something, you know, we never expected that. It's great to know we have the support of the community," said David Butts.
On October 21st, their business went up in flames, with building and contents suffering nearly half a million dollars in losses. They joined more than 100 exhibitors Tuesday afternoon, to network with Topeka business professionals.
"This is a therapy day. We get to see our friends and we can laugh and cry," said Barbara Butts, owner of Westside Stamp and Award.
"This is just a great opportunity for businesses like us to help get the word out and also meet up and meet other businesses, that we can have connections with," says State Farm agent, Jamie Hornbaker.
Chamber of Commerce members and guests listened to an inspirational message from motivational speaker Aaron Davis.
"See, as you do business, you want to finish strong," says Davis.
"The best thing is just to see how fabulous Topeka businesses are, and all the things that they can do and you might find someone that you need to be doing business with," says Vice President of Chamber of Commerce, Adrianne Evans.
Meanwhile, David Butts says he is optimistic his business will be up and running again soon.
"And that we are here and we are going to be back," said David Butts.
David says he hopes Westside Stamp and Award will be open at their new location on Monday.
