TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- A 19-year-old Topeka man is identified as the person shot about 12:00 p.m. Thursday (11/09).

Topeka Police Friday identified Geovani Plakio as the person shot near the SE 7th and SE Locust Street area Thursday. TPD Spokesperson Kristen Veverka wrote in a news release that Plakio was shot and then taken by private vehicle to the 4th Street and Lawrence Avenue area where he was moved to a different vehicle to be taken to the hospital.

Police officers stopped that second vehicle near SE 4th Street and Kansas Avenue. When they saw Plakio inside with a gunshot wound, they called an ambulance to take him to the hospital.

Plakio's injuries were considered life-threatening Friday morning.

The shooting investigation continues. Anyone with information is asked to call SGT Rich Volle at (785) 368-9413, or remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 234-0007.
