TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Students made a big impact in a small amount of time for a local organization.

Tecumseh North Elementary School spent the last two weeks of September raising money for the United Way of Greater Topeka.

The 400 students were encouraged to give at least a penny. They exceeded their goal and raised more than $1,500.

The school partnered with local businesses to provide extra incentives throughout the campaign such as "chew gum for change" and "cones for coins."

Students received "High 5s" from United Way campaign ambassadors as they headed home from school Monday.
