Task Force Launches Online Site To Report School Inefficiencies

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - People who believe they see schools wasting money can now report it online.

Gov. Sam Brownback's School Efficiency Task Force launched an online portal Wednesday for people to share examples they experience of school inefficiencies. Students, parents, citizens, teachers and administrators will be able to submit information anonymously.

Brownback formed the task force to examine school spending and make recommendations how to get more state funding into the classroom. Brownback's administration says Kansas Dept. of Education figures show 54 percent of total funding goes into the classroom.

"While task force members are researching and analyzing where inefficiencies are occurring in our educational system, we also want to hear directly from Kansans who have their own ideas and suggestions on how to make our schools more efficient," Task Force Chairman Ken Willard said in a statement. "We hope to hear from a lot of Kansans who take a few minutes to go online and share their thoughts with us."

People can submit suggestions at https://governor.ks.gov/efficiency.

The task force will hold its next meeting 10 am Nov. 9. A location is not yet determined.
