PRATT, Kan. (KAKE/AP) -- A homeless man has been shot and wounded near a central Kansas park where a pair of teens were practicing target shooting.
The shooting of a man near a Pratt park is being investigated as an accident.
Police and Sheriff's deputies were called to an area east of Lemon Park at 11:33 a.m.
The Pratt County Sheriff said two teens, ages 15 & 16, were target practicing in an area south of the Ninnescah River and east of the park. The were shooting at a trash barrel. A 42-year-old homeless man was sleeping behind the barrel and was struck in the leg.
The teens called for help and cooperated with the investigation. The shooting victim was taken to Pratt Regional Medical Center.
The case will be sent to the Pratt County Attorney for review.
