Take The Test, Take Control | Free HIV Screening Friday

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Positive Connections wants capital city residents to take the test, and take control.

Topeka is just one community around the nation observing National HIV Testing Day.

Positive Connections, Shawnee County Health Agency and the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library is hosting a community health fair from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Friday at the library.

Free HIV testing, health screenings and health information will be provided at the event.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates more than one million people in the U.S. are living with HIV, and that one in five don't know they are affected.

More than 3,800 people were living with HIV/AIDS in the state of Kansas in 2012.
