Police ID Two Men Charged Following Tuesday Drug Searches

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- Topeka Police have identified two of three people arrested when a series of search warrants were executed Tuesday, investigating alleged sales and distribution of K2.

K2 is a synthetic cannibis drug.

Mohammad Asif, 47, of Overland Park was booked into the Department of Corrections on 6 counts of a sale of schedule one narcotic, and 6 counts drug violation.

Ahmed El Asrag, 30, of Topeka was booked into the Department of Corrections on two counts of a sale of schedule one narcotics, and possession of a schedule one narcotic with intent to sell.

The names of other individual taken into custody was being withheld by police Wednesday afternoon as the investigation continues.

In a news release Tuesday, Topeka Police said search warrants were executed at eight Topeka locations. Six of them were later named as businesses. TPD says the businesses were shut down temporarily during the searches.

The business locations searched were:
Quick Stop- 1107 SW 6th
East Quick Stop- 3100 SE 6th
2nd Quick Stop- 1320 SW 6th
Quick Stop- 2525 SW 29th
Conoco- 706 SW Fairlawn
Quick Stop- 1020 NW Topeka

In addition, a TPD spokesperson says two warrants were executed at an apartment at 3037 SW Randolph.

"We will not know the full scope of our action for another few hours, so the ability to speak on impact may take a while," spokesperson Kristen Veverka said in a news release Tuesday.

Veverka said the warrants culminated a 10-month investigation involving multiple law enforcement agencies.
