TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- A 35-minute car chase spanning three counties and more than 27 miles ended in the arrest of two people Thursday morning.

Douglas County authorities say that around 2 a.m. Lawrence and Topeka Police attempted to pull over a vehicle containing a suspect wanted by Topeka Police.

Police didn't say what the suspect was wanted for, but the driver didn't pull over. The suspect began speeding north of Lawrence to Highway 24, and into Jefferson County.

The chase continued westbound on 24 where Shawnee and Jefferson County deputies laid two sets of spike strips.

The chase came to end after the car hit a guard rail and got stuck on a grassy median on Highway 24 east of Kaw Valley Road.

The driver and passenger were taken into custody. No injuries were reported and their names haven't been released.
