TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A Topeka man will make a plea in the May murder of a recent Seaman High School graduate.

Dustin Leftwich was slated to appear Thursday at a motions hearing in the case. Tuesday morning, Shawnee County District Court records indicated the proceeding was changed to a plea hearing.

Leftwich is charged with capital murder, aggravated kidnapping, aggravated batter and false information in the death of 18-year-old Brenna Morgart. Prosecutors say Leftwich hit Morgart with his vehicle in the 6800 block of NW Jennings Rd, then moved her body to a field in the 6600 block of NW Huxman Rd., where it was found.

Leftwich also faces an additional count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for a separate incident that happened June 29, 2011.

A court official says sentencing is tentatively set for February 15, 2013.
