TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- The man wanted in connection with a shooting at a mobile home park south of Topeka earlier this month has been captured, the Shawnee Co. Sheriff's Office announced on Thursday.
Antoine T. Marks, Sr., was arrested without incident at a home, 1525 SW 24th Street, in Topeka, around 1:15 p.m. He was taken to the Law Enforcement Center for questioning, the Sheriff's Office said.
Sheriff Herman Jones said he "sincerely appreciated the work of his deputies and the cooperation and assistance of the media, public, US Marshals and the Topeka Police Department” in Marks' capture.
Marks is accused of shooting Corey S. Mason in the leg at the park, 4420 SW 61st Street, on July 10. Mason was shot in the leg. Authorities say he and Marks knew each other.
They added that Mason had an outstanding warrant in Shawnee County for probation violation as well.
Authorities had closed Burlingame Road near 57th for most of that afternoon while authorities looked for Marks. The Shawnee County Sheriff's Office, Topeka Police and Kansas Highway Patrol were all involved in the search.
