Suspect Booked For Theft Facing Explosives Charges

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A theft suspect whose arrest brought the bomb squad to his home now faces explosives charges.

Shawnee County District Court records show prosecutors filed three counts of criminal use of explosives - unauthorized possession or manufacture against 33-year-old Arthor Gibbs. He also faces two drug counts.

Gibbs was arrested November 4th. Authorities serving a warrant for felony theft at his home at 150 NW Evelyn Street saw suspicious items. The bomb squad was notified. Authorities spent nine hours securing the scene and removing the items for examination.
