TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- A suspect was arrested Friday after leading authorities on a high-speed chase from Emporia to Topeka along the Kansas Turnpike.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says a trooper clocked a vehicle going nearly 90 miles per hour on the Turnpike north of Emporia just before 12:30 pm. The trooper tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver kept going, leading authorities on a pursuit that reached speeds topping 125 miles per hour.
Troopers assisted by the Shawnee County Sheriff's Office put out stop sticks near the South Topeka toll gate. The vehicle stopped about a mile after driving over them.
Authorities arrested 22-year-old Kassanova Callier on charges including felony fleeing, speeding and possessing a stolen vehicle. KHP says the red Ford Mustang Callier was driving was reported stolen out of Kansas City, Missouri.
KHP says illegal hallucinogenic drugs and a firearm also were found in the vehicle.
