OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (AP) -- Authorities in northeast Kansas say a 51-year-old man had been stabbed to death at least six months before his body was found in his home.
KCTV reports Overland Park police disclosed that detail following an arrest in the death of Chidozie "Joe'' Ojiaka.
Twenty-two-year-old Edward Scott, of Kansas City, Kansas, was arrested Wednesday and charged with premeditated first-degree murder. Scott was being held Thursday on $1 million bond and did not yet have a lawyer.
Police went to Ojiaka's home and found the body June 8 after neighbors reported flies massing in the windows and a strong odor coming from the house.
Investigators said in court documents that Ojiaka was killed sometime between Nov. 30 and Dec. 9.
Ojiaka owned two car lots in the Kansas City metro area.
