MARYVILLE, Kan. (WIBW) -- A couple area school districts are taking steps toward finding new leadership. USD 251 in North Lyon Co. interviewed its third superintendent finalist on Monday.

Richard Stumpf currently heads the USD 106 in Western Plains. Along with Stumpf, the district has interviewed the superintendent of USD 479 in Crest Jerry Turner and Aron Dody, the principal for its junior high and Americus Elementary.

They are competing to replace Mike Nulton whose contract lapsed last year and was not renewed. Nulton, however, finds himself among the five finalists for the USD 364 superintendent position.

He's up against Adam McDaniel of Atwood; Carolyn Eide of Whiting, Iowa; Leland "Jamie" Rumford of Cheney, and the current interim Superintendent Randy Freeman.

Interviews for that position began Monday with Nulton and are expected to conclude with Freeman a week from Wednesday. The board hopes to have a pick made by February 3rd.
