MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) - The annual “Party for the Planet” event was held Saturday, featuring family-friendly activities encouraging conservation and preservation of the natural world.

Conservation Stations featuring Beekeeping, Local Amphibians & Butterfly Gardening were available for guests to enjoy, as well as entertainment from a local magician and a rock climbing wall.

"This day we definitely gear on outdoor family-friendly activities," siad Marketing and Development Officer Ella Casey. "So we have conservation stations sprinkled throughout the zoo and inside our new building kind of talking to folks about different ways that they can protect and preserve the environment. Different things that we’re doing at the zoo, so we have our frog watch team who actually goes out and they track frogs in the area. They have all sorts of funny calls that they listen for, so it’s pretty awesome to hear about."

The Zoo’s keeper staff highlighted animal enrichment – activities they use to keep the collection active and healthy.

“Party for the Planet” is an event held in conjunction with Earth Day, which is coming up onTuesday.
