TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- Threatening messages posted by a Topeka West student on Twitter prompted an investigation Wednesday.

According to Chief Ron Brown of the Topeka Public School Police Department, the student's posts on Twitter was reported by staff at WIBW 580 Radio.

According to WIBW Radio the unidentified student posted the following to Twitter:

"F*** topeka west (sic). Hope it blows up"

"we're not even a month into school and I already have a hit list of b****'s i want to choke"

Officers with TPS Police questioned the student and determined there was no activity criminal in nature. The incident was then turned over to school administrators.

Brown says USD 501 takes any threat to students and staff seriously, and that officers actively monitor social media networks.

District policy requires administrators to taken action when something posted online impacts students, staff and facilities.

No further information about the incident was released Wednesday.
