TOPEKA, Kan. - Area eighth graders made some noise to help the community Monday.

Washburn Rural Middle Schoolers were ringing bells for the Salvation Army at various locations in Topeka. They were also helping out at different places.

The service efforts were part of the school's "Community Days." The purpose of the Community Days is to expose students to volunteers opportunities throughout the county.

The students will continue their volunteer opportunities Tuesday.
