MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) - Kansas State University Assistant Athletic Director for Communications Kenny Lannou confirms to 13 News that the student injured in Saturday's tackle skit involving Willie the Wildcat was a member of the cheer squad.
Before Saturday's football game against West Virginia, the student's head slammed against the turf, leaving him unresponsive for a short time. Medical officials realized he was having an apparent seizure.
He was taken to Mercy Regional Health Center where he was evaluated and released.
His name has not been released. Lannou says the athletics department is reviewing the practice of the mascot skits and will determine if they will continue.
