Stretch Of U.S. 59 Re-Opened After Late Night Shooting

LAWRENCE, Kan. (WIBW) – An investigation into a shooting south of Lawrence shut down a stretch of U.S. 59 for several hours, according to the Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office. Authorities rerouted southbound traffic starting at N 1000 Road all the way to the N 650 exit onto Old U.S. 59.

UPDATE: The road reopened shortly after 4:00 p.m.

The Sheriff's Office said its deputies are searching for evidence from a late night shooting along the highway Monday night. A Lawrence man was shot while driving in the area around 11:00 p.m. He was taken via helicopter to Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka for treatment.
